Shobhitha Ravi is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh holding a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Psychology.  She went on to receive her Masters in the Arts of Teaching for Secondary Mathematics.

Shobhitha is a senior disciple of Natyakalavathi Smt. Jaya Mani who continues to spread the rich culture of Bharatanatyam through the style of Kancheepuram Ellappa Pillai.

Shobhitha has also been under the guidance of Smt. Revathi Ramachandran, an acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist of India, during the productions of several dance dramas and has attended a residency workshop with renowned artist, Kalaimamani Rama Vaidyanathan.

Shobhitha took on an active role to make Indian classical dance appreciated by diverse groups of people during her undergraduate and graduate studies.  She was captain of the University of Pittsburgh's premiere classical dance team, Nrityamala, and took the team to great heights by competing at a national intercollegiate competition, Laasya, and winning first place.  Since then, she has served on the executive board as Assistant Director for Laasya 2012 which was hosted in Pittsburgh in February 2012.  Shobhitha then became one of the founders of the University of Pittsburgh's very own competition, Dhirana.  She served as the Co-Director for the first Dhirana which was hosted in February 2013.  Shobhitha also had the privilege to serve as a judge for Dhirana since 2014.

Through patterns of intricate rhythm and expression entwined with beautiful melody, Shobhitha does her best to energetically bring the dance and music to life.  Shobhitha enjoys choreographing unique presentations of Bharatanatyam while adhering to its tradition.  Shobhitha’s willingness to listen, learn, and understand the ancient art makes her an emerging artist and passionate teacher.
